Let's stay in Dunhuang

I really can say that Dunhuang is "a long name, such as thunder." By Ji Xianlin

When we entered the Thousand-Buddha Caves, it seemed as if we had entered the ancient world that had long since passed away, as if we had entered the mythical world. The characters are so numerous, the scenes are so rich, the colors are so bright, the skills are so skilled, we can't help but feel busy inside. We have seen Sakyamuni riding down the six-toothed white elephant and dropping him. Jiulong spits out water for him to take a bath. When he takes a rest, he walks seven steps. He declares in a loud voice: “In heaven and in the world, I alone.” We seem to see him repair. , Do not eat, repaired for six years, repaired his eyes deep as ancient wells. What drew most interest from us and gave us the deepest impression was the many paintings of Nirvana.

Sakyamuni has passed away, his eyes closed, and his right threat lies down. Behind him stood many monks and laity. The people in the front row have got their way. They are indifferent to life and death. Their faces are expressionless. The people in the back row, whether it is the king, the people of all ethnic groups, or the monks and nuns, because the Taoist line is not high, the dustiness is not gone, and the way of life and death is all gone, all of them cry out loud, some of them hold their heads, some start their heads, and some clap their hands. Some of them were full, some were tears, some were cracked, and some even fell to the ground.

Pillar Heavenly Girl and Flying Temple

Cave 322, built in the early Tang Dynasty

Cave 285: "Sauguchi" and "Yiyi Bodai" (Western Wei)

We really feel like weeping and seeing tears flowing in our hearts. We can't help but feel the shock inside. The most interesting part is the six teachers from the Outer Kingdom. They saw the main rivals dead, happy to play the piano, play music, dance and dance. On the walls of surplus feet or surplus feet, there is a sad picture of life. This kind of religious painting is actually a true depiction of a worldly society. Bring the social reality before the millennia to life like we are today.

Cave 148: The Western Wall - Nirvana Sutra - The Eight Kings Relic (Sheng Tang)

Cave 138: The lower part of the south side of the main room's east wall—the seventh garb of the north woman in the north. The lion's clothing decoration (Late Tang)

In many caves, we seem to walk into the west’s bliss, the so-called Pure Land. In this world, no one seems to worry about what is lacking in life. And these diets and clothes need not be made by hand. Everywhere there is a wishful tree of gods. The branches are filled with all sorts of good food and clothing. What they want and what they have, and they only need to stretch their hands and make a mouthful of effort. All their wishes can be satisfied. All of these worldly paintings, of course, are used to promote a theme: No matter what kind of living environment, as long as one mind Amitabha, you can go to the Pure Land and enjoy the blessing. This is of course an illusion or even a deception. But the artist's attitude is serious and their skills are amazing. They carefully described and carefully painted. As a result, they painted things that were imaginary like real things. They were presented vividly and unambiguously before our eyes. Let us get a sense of history and let us get wonderful. Art enjoyment.

Cave No.100: The South Wall of Shu Road - Cao Yijin's Father and Attendance (Five Dynasties)

Cave 159: Tubo Zapul Buddha Figure of the Vimalakirti Sutra

More than 400 caves in the Mogao Grottoes have a total of more than 40,000 square meters of frescoes. The time of painting stretches for more than a thousand years. In just a few days, I seemed to roam heaven and land, roam the sinisters and hells, roam the ancient world, roam the mythical world, traveled over three thousand thousand worlds, climbed Mount Mt. Sumika, and saw the Brahma. Indra, who had dealt with the four great kings, had a meeting with the cow's noodles, waded through the thousands of miles of the Silk Road, drifted through the vast sea of oceans, saw the Buddha's mercy, and listened to Vermos. The debate did not hinder. My mind was full of colourful sentient beings, overlapping and overwhelming, and I couldn't clear up a clue. In just a few days, I seemed to live for decades. What has been very abstract for me over the past few decades has now become very concrete. Here, the romantic atmosphere is very strong. Some artists dare to draw a band instead of a single person. All the instruments are attached to a streamer. The streamers are floating in the air and the instrument plays their own voices. It is a meteorological concert. Can such a painting be found in the history of Chinese painting and even in the history of painting in other countries?

I once thought that in the frescoes in these caves, we can not only see the people of various nationalities in China, but also the peoples of the countries along the Silk Road, and even the people of some countries far from the Silk Road. . For example, after I mentioned the Buddha's Buddha, many people stand there and grieve. These people have deep nose and high nose, some have high bones and small eyes, and their clothing is completely different. Imagine the time when the Silk Road was in its heyday. On the road stretching tens of thousands of miles, there must be pedestrians and humps. Religious believers, diplomatic envoys, profit-seeking businessmen, and knowledge-seeking students have each sought and gone. As of today, the situation has changed and has greatly changed. What appeared before us was the quicksand, and the yellow dust billowed. The famous cities of Guazhou, Yumen, Gaochang, and Jiaohe had already been destroyed. They only left some broken niches and were isolated from the western winds, giving them to Nostalgia. People add innumerable poems.

In Dunhuang, at the Thousand-Buddha Grottoes, I wouldn't be satisfied if I looked at it thousands of times. There is such a scene of Taoyuan Wonderland, a wonderful mural, a respectable person, and such a lovely shadow. From the bottom of my heart I really want to stay here forever and stay here forever. Let me take my body away now and leave my heart in Dunhuang.
